v Official club name: The Friendship Force of Greater Harrisburg v Closest major airport(s): Harrisburg International (MDT); JFK (150 miles);Dulles or BWI (150miles) Philadelphia International (150 miles) v Closest Regional Airport: v Cost of transportation between the airport and our city: Ambassadors arriving to Harrisburg International (MDT) will be picked up there; Ambassadors arriving to JFK, Dulles, or BWI must make arrangements in advance to be transported to the Harrisburg Area. The cost is about $40-$50 per person, one way. For Ambassadors arriving at one of these three airports, our club ED will work with the incoming club’s ED to arrange for one of several airport transfer services we have previously used to enter into a contract with the incoming club. Most transfer services companies want a deposit or payment in advance from international arriving groups. v The maximum number of Ambassadors our club can host: 20-25 range depending on time of year, because many of our club members are in FL until mid-April. v About the club: We are more than 25 years old. We have 120 members, of which 38 are couples and 44 are singles. We have one incoming and one outgoing international exchange per year, and either one incoming or one outgoing domestic exchange per year. We have six board meetings and six newsletters per year, two general membership meetings per year, and six to eight intra club social events per year, in addition to our exchanges. We have annual goals to grow our membership, and also to raise funds to augment exchange fees we receive from incoming Ambassadors. v About the region: Greater Harrisburg Area is about 40 miles long and 30 miles wide. It has Carlisle PA on the west to Hershey PA on the east. We are bounded by the Blue Mountain Range to the north and Gettysburg PA and York PA on the south v About the exchange: We plan incoming receptions, and farewell dinners. Out of a seven day exchange, two days will be free days, with five days planned for visits to places of interest in Harrisburg, Hershey, Lancaster, Gettysburg & York. See attachment for more details. Non hosting members provide evening meals for small groups. We will include one day to Philadelphia or Washington DC if requested in place of one of our other daily programs, but we really prefer not to.
